St. Petersburg Expungement Attorneys

Helping You Move Beyond Your Conviction

In some cases, you may be eligible to seal or expunge your criminal record. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) determines whether or not you are eligible to do this. With the help of a St. Petersburg expungement lawyer, you can petition the department and work on moving forward to a better future.

To learn more about whether you are eligible to seal or expunge your record, get in touch with the St. Petersburg criminal defense attorneys at Plotnick Law. We are backed by 24 years of collective experience and the experience of a former state prosecutor.

Difference Between Sealing & Expunging a Criminal Record

In most cases, both sealing and expunging will prevent the majority of potential employers from accessing the information about your criminal record. In addition, you have the legal right to deny you prior record once it is sealed or expunged.

The difference between the two is as follows:

  • Sealing: The general public cannot access this information. However, certain government agencies will be able to view this information
  • Expungement: This process makes it as if your conviction never happened. All copies must be destroyed except for a confidential copy kept by the FDLE

How Many Criminal Records Can I Seal or Expunge?

In your lifetime, you may only seal or expunge one criminal record. Some circumstances in which numerous criminal charges are tied to a single original arrest may allow for multiple expunctions. Talk to your lawyer to find out what you may be eligible for.
