Modification of Child Support
When one party’s income increases or decreases, it may be possible to increase or decrease child support. Whoever wants the modification must prove that there would be at least a 15% or $50 change to the current amount.
Other reasons for child support modification include:
- Substantial change in daycare cost
- Substantial change in medical insurance
Modification of Time-Sharing
Time-sharing can be modified if there was a significant change in circumstances that could not have been anticipated before the court order. Then, it must be proven that this change would be in the best interest of the child.
Modification of Alimony
Alimony is based on one spouse’s need for support and the other spouse’s ability to provide that support. If a substantial change takes place to either spouse that would affect that, alimony may be modified.
